Abstract

The article reviews the main accomplishments of the linguistic theory of translation and argues in favour of its relevance to present-day translation science, which is confirmed by translation practice. The author of the article analyses criticism against the linguistic theory of translation from the proponents of the interpretive theory of D. Seleskovitch and M. Lederer, and comments on its credibility.
