The Figurative Component of Metaphor in Political Discourse (based on V. V. Putin’s public speeches)

Abstract

The article represents a study of the degrees of imagery of metaphors in political discourse (based on V. V. Putin’s public speeches). The author considers three degrees of imagery of metaphors according to the frequency of their objectification in discourse and the strength of the figurative component. According to the results of the study, the conclusions were made that the most frequently represented group is the usual metaphors, the occasional metaphors are distinguished as the strongest in accordance with the figurative component in political discourse.
