The relevance of the research topic is determined by the growing interest in the work by М. Prishvin as one of the significant representatives of Russian literature of the XX century, as well as the insufficient study of the specifics of the author's presence in his prose works. The novel «Kashcheyev’s Chain», being one of the key works of the writer, is a complex structure in which the image of the author plays a system-forming role, determining the ideological and thematic content and artistic form Narrative. The analysis of the author's presence in the novel allows us to better understand Prishvin’s philosophical and aesthetic views, as well as his contribution to the Russian prose development. The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze the features of the author's image in the novel by М. Prishvin «Kashcheyev’s Chain», as well as to determine his role in the formation of the artistic world of the work. Achieving this goal involves solving the following tasks: consideration of various aspects of the author's presence, including narrative strategies, a system of assessments and judgments, lyrical digressions and manifestations of the author's position; analysis of the ways of expressing the author's position in the novel «Kashcheyev’s Chain», including through the system of characters, landscape sketches and symbolic images; identification of the features of the author's modality and its impact on the reader's perception of the text. The methodological basis of the research is an integrated approach, including elements of structural and semantic analysis, historical and literary context, and hermeneutic interpretation. When analyzing the text of the novel, the methods of identifying narrative strategies, analyzing the system of characters and motifs, as well as interpreting symbolic images were used.
