GENERAL M.G. СHERNYAEV: PERSONALITY AGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF MILITARY CAMPAIGN ON RUSSIA’S CONQUEST OF TURKESTAN

This article is devoted to General M. G. Chernyaev, whose leadership talent and organizing skills played an important role in annexation of Turkestan to Russia. The problem of such a personality appearance in certain conditions is considered on the basis of Сhernyaev's personal files. The author comes to the conclusion that Сhernyaev's merits can be explained not only by character features, but also by specificity of a certain historical setting.
