Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of general Francisco Franco’s raise to power at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Analyzing the circumstances under which the future dictator came to power the author attempts to detect the factors that favor his appointment as the Commander-in-Chief and the Head of Government of the rebel-controlled zone. The author shows how initially general Franco managed to take advantage of his authority over the Army of Africa and reputation among officers.
