Победа «без пыли» - победа за явным преимуществом

Аннотация

Цель исследования - выяснить причины, по которым атлетам на панэллинских и местных играх присуждали победу «без пыли» (ἀκονιτί), неоспоримую, безоговорочную победу. Такие победы были большой редкостью в архаику и классику, очень высоко ценились и всегда особо отмечались в перечне побед атлетов и их почетных надписях. На основе письменных источников и данных эпиграфики показано, что причинами побед «без пыли» могли быть грозная репутация атлета, прессинг во время тренировки или жеребьевки атлетами-тяжеловесами своих соперников. Известны случаи победы «без пыли» в результате нарушения правил игр, например, опоздание к началу состязаний. Часто атлеты жаловались на злосчастный случай, укравший у них победу, т.е. результат жеребьевки, который ставил их в пару с борцом-тяжеловесом и приводил к проигрышу. Позор и унижение, которые ожидали атлетов в этом случае, также заставляли их отказаться от участия в соревнованиях с сильным противником, ибо такой отказ считался менее унизительным, чем поражение. Статистический анализ данных о победах атлетов «без пыли» дает возможность автору предположить, что такие победы чаще всего присуждались в единоборствах как на панэллинских, так и на местных играх.
