Established in 2011, the Journal was initially published as a multidisciplinary title.

Thus, during the 2012–2015 period, the Editorial Board included specialists in natural sciences, law, economics and education. In 2015–2018, these scientific fields were excluded from the scope of the Journal.

Since 2019, the Journal has published scientific articles in two scientific disciplines – Philology and History.

The full-text versions of the Journal are submitted for placement in the eLIBRARY.RU Scientific Electronic Library.

• The Journal is included in:
  Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) WoS (since 2017);
• ERIH PLUS European Reference Index for Humanities and Social Sciences (since 2015);
• List compiled by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Russian Federation of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for obtaining the scientific degree of the Candidate of Sciences or Doctor of Science are to be published (since 2015);
• The journal is indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) <Emerging Sources Citation Index> (articles indexed since February 2017);
• The journal has been included in Scopus since December 2023.

Since February 2017, all articles have been assigned with a digital object identifier (DOI) used to permanently identify documents and link to them on the web.
