It was founded in 1944, published until 1972 under the name "Scientific Notes", restored in 2005 under the present name. Until 2022, the editor–in–chief was V.A. Taymazov, from 2022 to 2023 - V.A. Chistyakov, from 2023 to 2024 - S.I. Petrov, from 2024 to the present, the editor-in-chief is S.M. Ashkinazi.

In 2024, the structure of the journal was changed: instead of two, 7 headings were introduced, corresponding to the nomenclature of scientific specialties of the Higher Attestation Commission.
