The review analyzes the scientific works performed by V.D. Dzidzoev for more than forty years of active research in the fields of national history and political science. The peer-reviewed edition includes the most important articles and monographic studies of the author, which have not lost their relevance even today. The center of gravity of the collection of works by V.D. Dzidzoev is the development of historical, political science and legal concepts in relation to the post-Soviet period in the history of the North and South Caucasus. They combine a thorough systematic analysis of the empirical (factual, eventual) aspects of the historical and modern development of the Caucasus, their deep generalization and determination of ways to translate the results into political practice.
