Abstract

Increased social and economic differentiation in the existing living conditions and the level of environmental safety of the population in each of the BRICS-9 countries actualizes comparative monitoring of national environmental characteristics taking into account existing international standards and regulations. The article analyzes the dynamics of indicators reflecting the environmental well-being of the population and the specifics of social and economic development of the BRICS-9 countries. It is shown that on the background of maintaining a high level of differences between countries in key indicators of environmental well-being of the population, their positive dynamics is observed, but problems of harmful environmental impact remain. It is substantiated that each of the BRICS-9 countries needs to expand the set of measures aimed at reducing the adverse environmental impact and improving the environmental characteristics of life of the population.
