Abstract
The de Haas – van Alphen effect in two-dimensional metals is studied under various conditions and with an arbitrary forms of Landau levels. We consider the limit of fixed electron density and an intermediate situation with a finite reservoir of electronic states. An analytical formula for magnetization at a constant electron density and an arbitrary temperature is obtained.
