Abstract

The article examines the causes of interstate peace in Latin American countries. Special attention is paid to the existing explanations from the «great theories» and middle-level theories. The purpose of the article is to verify the thesis that civil conflicts in Latin American countries have led to certain positive results, to the establishment of peace between them. It is shown that civil wars have historically played an important role in terms of containing interstate military conflicts. The author argues that after internal conflicts, states are less likely to participate in external military actions, since they are focused on restoring and consolidating peace within the country.
