Protection of traditional family values: the Latin American experience

The article examines the current stage of resistance to gender-based mainstream, reproductive and sexual rights in Latin American countries, the reasons for the intensification of conservative forces, their goals and objectives.  A special emphasis in the work is placed on the analysis of the Peruvian movement "Don't mess with our kids as one of the most numerous in the region.  The author attributes the leadership of evangelical churches, their politicization, and the formation of alliances with the Catholic clergy and right-wing parties to the characteristic features of Latin American anti-gender. The scale of the movement's spread and effectiveness are explained by the use of a set of strategies, including rejecting religious rhetoric in favor of scientific arguments, appealing to human rights, creating independent NGOs, and using social networks as a tool for mass mobilization of citizens. As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that the movement for traditional family values in Latin America is a subject of the political process and, having a huge mobilization potential and resources, is able to influence the alignment of political forces in the region.
