Abstract

Antenna array with series excitation and two-dimensional frequency scanning is considered. Analysis of the array consisting of Na parallel linear leaky wave antennas forming the array and coupling waveguides with waveguide 180° turns connecting n-thlinear antenna output withn + 1-thlinear antenna input is presented. Several leaky wave antennas compared by electromagnetic simulation. Waveguide antenna with continuous slot in wide wall is selected for the array design. The array model combining electromagnetic simulation of leaky wave antenna with approximate calculation of the array characteristics is proposed. The model is used for the array parameters behavior in frequency range 6.8…9 GHz. The analyzed array demonstrates return loss less than –14 dB and aperture efficiency 0.32…0.53 in the whole range of frequency scanning. The array provides scanning sector ±40° and ±10° in azimuth and elevation planes respectively.
