Abstract
A pregnancy and labour description is given for a 1st group disabled person suffering from the genetically confirmed spinal muscular atrophy type II (SMA type II). Statistically, the risk for the infant being born with SMA is less then 0,5 %. No serious complications were identified during the pregnancy; the Caesarean section was performed during the delivery. Considering the substantial atrophy of the muscular system, myorelaxants were excluded during the followed anaesthesia. A male infant was extracted without genetic pathologies, weighting 1900 g, 40 cm long, scored 7/7 by the Apgar scale. State social and community organizations provided aid in caring for the baby.
