Instructional design as a direction of modern didactics

Rudneva T.I., Sanko A.M.

Abstract

The modern educational system reflects current social processes. Teachers’ design activities are traditionally viewed as planning the educational process and selecting the content of academic disciplines. However, in the context of social transformations and the intensive digitalization of education, this has changed the outcome, the quality of which is determined by independent learning activities. Based on an analysis of scientific literature, this article demonstrates that the acquisition of universal skills can occur in a comfortable educational environment. Comparing perspectives on the concept of «instructional design» allowed the authors to consider it within the framework of didactics as a form of organizing a comfortable educational environment for the development of individuality using modern technologies. It is argued that design and instructional design are not synonymous, as the products of these processes differ. The didactic foundations of designing and managing a results-oriented educational process, as well as the methodological foundations for organizing a comfortable educational system, are considered. Attention is drawn to the emergence of a new profession in the teaching profession – pedagogical designer, who assumes the functions of designing an educational model that shapes a methodological style of thinking. A comparison of the content of training programs in various forms of education made it possible to establish their focus on solving narrow pedagogical problems and to determine the prospects for developing the readiness of new teaching staff to solve innovative educational problems.

«Beyond the line»: on the formation of local areas of sedentary settlement in the Southern Middle Volga Region in the first half of the XVII century

Dubman E.L.

Abstract

This article examines the formation of large local areas of agricultural and industrial populations in the forest -steppe borderlands of the Southern Middle Volga region after the end of the Time of Troubles, in the 1620-ies–early 1640-ies. An attempt has been made to identify the special role of representatives of the royal family and the highest ecclesiastical circles, as well as privileged merchants, in this process. This study continues a series of papers devoted to the study of the specifics of the mass governmental, military-administrative, and economic agricultural-industrial colonization of the European southeast of the Russian state during its development as a frontier. The work is based on sources from the collections of the Russian State Archives of Ancient Documents (RGADA), the Russian State Library’s Archives of Archives (OR RSL), and other central Russian archives, as well as previously published sources. The study demonstrated that throughout the joint reign of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich and Patriarch Filaret, they maintained close cooperation with Nadeya (Epiphanius) Sveteshnikov, a guest belonging to a privileged merchant corporation. This cooperation enabled the development of one of the most significant foreign fishing industries in the Volga Delta and the establishment of two large local centers of industrial and agricultural settlement in the Samara Luka.

Campaign against Kazan: the fatal misadventure of Pugachev’s Rebellion

Sadykov A.K., Samorodov D.P.

Abstract

The article attempts to examine the storming of Kazan as a key failure of the Pugachev’s Rebellion. The purpose of the study is to determine the reasons for the rebels’ defeat, the success of the government forces, and to identify the problems and difficulties faced by both sides, as well as to compare their tactical actions and assess their effectiveness. To achieve this goal, the article employs historical-systemic, historical-genetic, historical-comparative, logical, statistical, and quantitative methods. The research is based on the materials from the Federal Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts. The Pugachev’s uprising was mainly viewed from the prevailing ideological positions at that time, and the military component was studied only partially, which determined the relevance of the topic. The article draws conclusions about the level of training of the personnel, the military skills of the opposing sides, and the future of the ongoing uprising.

Scientific genealogy in Samara in the early XX century (based on the letters of prince S.A. Khovansky to L.M. Savelov)

Naumov O.N.

Abstract

The article introduces for the first time into scholarly circulation the letters of the Samara genealogist and historian of the nobility, Prince S.A. Khovansky (1883–1941), which were addressed to the founder of scientific genealogy in Russia, L.M. Savelov (1868–1947). They are kept in the Department of Written Sources of the State Historical Museum, date back to 1910–1915, and represent a unique source on genealogical research in Samara in the early XX century. A comprehensive analysis of these ego-texts allows us to understand S.A. Khovansky’s collaboration with the Historical and Genealogical Society in Moscow, characterize his research on the history of his own family and archaeographic activities, and clarify the composition of the genealogical section of his personal library. The direct influence of L.M. Savelov’s views on the methodological position of S.A. Khovansky, especially noticeable during his work on a fundamental reference book on the genealogy of the Samara elite, begun in 1915 at the suggestion of the provincial marshal of the nobility, A.N. Naumov. This large-scale project was never completed due to political upheavals, but it was a landmark event in the history of regional scholarly genealogy, marking, together with the generational charts of S.A. Khovansky and A.A. Sivers, published in 1913, the genesis of systematic genealogical discourse. As epistolary sources attest, thanks to S.A. Khovansky’s regular contacts with L.M. In Samara, Savelov adopted the theoretical and methodological features of the Moscow genealogical school: a desire to study sources and expand the boundaries of genealogical research, an interest in all groups of the nobility, regardless of their noble origin and socio-economic status, and an understanding of regional nobility was integrated into the all-Russian process of developing genealogical knowledge.

Discourses of class ideologies reflected in the speeches of nobles and bourgeois on the eve of the 1917 revolution

Kobozeva Z.M., Kabytov P.S.

Abstract

This article reconstructs the complex problem of the relationship between representatives of the estates of the Russian Empire in connection with the changed socio-political circumstances that arose at the final stage of the modernization of the country, during the Russian Revolution of 1905-1907 and the Great Russian Revolution of 1917. «Frozen» by the legislation of the Russian Empire and functioning contrary to modern life at the beginning of the XX century with its challenges, the Russian estates did not even put forward the idea of abolishing the estate structure of society from below, since faith in power was still preserved by inertia, and therefore a significant part of Russian society continued to expect decisions from above. But at the same time, representatives of the upper strata realized the need to develop a program to overcome the revolutionary crisis, taking into account the economic and political demands of the estates. The paradox of the situation was that with the aging social organism of the estate structure of society, difficulties arose in determining which class a particular person belongs to. The cultural flair manifested itself primarily in discourse. Speeches of nobles at congresses of the Permanent Council of United Noble Societies, provincial zemstvo meetings, as well as speeches of provincial burghers in preparation for the All-Russian petty bourgeois congresses were used as sources. The speech picture of the speakers’ world still retained the class characteristics of upbringing and education. But neither of them, nor the higher Russian noble class, nor the largest class of Russian cities, were able to defend the estate system and develop a program for the future of the country. The legal space of the Russian Empire in the second half of the XIX–early XX centuries. It contributed to the fact that the estates should have long ago given way to the classes of bourgeois society and remained exclusively in the cultural and historical memory of the country.

«More problematist than the writer...». On the contribution of R.N. Kim to the concept of translating Japanese literature into Russian (based on prison correspondence with M.S. Tsyn)

Kulanov A.E.

Abstract

In the 1990-ies, modern researchers were given the opportunity to study the biographies of repressed orientalists. This gave modern Japanese studies the opportunity to pay tribute to some extent to teachers and also allowed their ideas and concepts, which had either remained unknown until now or, for various reasons, had long since fallen out of the focus of later researchers, to be introduced into scientific circulation. An example of such and quite fruitful, as it seems, appeal to the roots is the work on restoring the biographies of the famous married couple-Japanese scholars: Roman Nikolaevich Kim and Mariam Samoilovna Tsyn. Arrested in 1937, they recently discovered documents indicate that even while in prison, they continued to work. Moreover, R. N. Kim, in letters from prison in Kuibyshev city to his wife, who was serving time in Moscow prison, expressed a number of very interesting ideas regarding the theory of translation from Eastern languages, primarily from Japanese. He saw it as necessary to move from the ponderous method of presenting literature about the East to an exciting educational genre. Harshly and unflatteringly criticizing his contemporaries – translators and writers – Kim compiled lists of literature about the countries of the East, which, in his opinion, should be translated in the near future in order to interest the Soviet reader in this topic and give him a correct idea of these countries. He also insisted on the so-called “three guidelines” of a translator, which he himself formulated, quite objectively, in our opinion, assessing the difficulties of this work at specific moments in time and indicating directions for overcoming existing obstacles. The concept of translation from Eastern languages, created by R.N. Kim in 1942–1943 in letters to M.S. Tsin from prison to prison in our opinion, not only deserves attention as a historical fact that makes it possible to evaluate the significant contribution of its author to the theory of Japanese studies, but also represents material for reflection and guidance for action that is still relevant today.

Sugar production in the Middle Volga region during the Great Patriotic War

Yusupova S.N.

Abstract

The issues of the development of the USSR economy during the Great Patriotic War do not cease to arouse the interest of professional researchers. The wartime experience in organizing sugar production and providing sugar production with beet raw materials in the rear areas of the country may be relevant for solving the problem of food security and reducing the level of import dependence of the country in the modern period. The purpose of this work is to analyze the activities of sugar industry in the Middle Volga region during the war. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: to attract new sources on the topic and analyze existing ones; to establish the main stages of development of the sugar industry in the region; to identify the main problems and ways to solve them; to consider the issue of providing the industry with raw materials, material resources, and labor. As a result, it was concluded that sugar-producing enterprises were an important component of economic development of the region and producers of necessary products for the front and rear; the difficulties of wartime led to a significant drop in sugar production; the acreage of sugar beet was significantly expanded, but yields remained relatively low; a significant role in the development of the industry was made by research teams of scientific and educational institutions; during the war years, the foundation was laid for the development of industry in the post-war period.

Reconstruction of Procurator’s supervision in 1953–1956 (based on CPSU party organization of the Procuracy of Mordovian ASSR materials)

Galkin O.V.

Abstract

The article is devoted to examining the history of the early period of the reform of the Soviet Procuracy during N.S. Khrushchev rule based on regional materials. The purpose of this article is to examine Communist Party (CPSU) organizational materials as historical sources. The research primarily draws upon archival documents from the Party Organization of CPSU fund of the Procuracy of the Mordovian ASSR. The article analyzes various aspects of procuracy’s activities as reflected in Party Organization materials, with particular emphasis on the interaction between procuracy and party structures. Special attention is paid to the relationship between procuracy administration and party organization authority, and their interaction with the CPSU Regional Committee's Administrative Organs Department. The study also addresses personnel policy, supervision of militia bodies, the transition of the corrective labor camp to the Procuracy of the Mordovian ASSR jurisdiction, complaint handling procedures and the process of debureaucratization of procuracy bodies. The enhancement of the role of the procuracy coincided with increased influence from party structures, operating partially through the party organization. The outcomes of these reforms should be viewed as contradictory: despite expanded supervisory responsibilities and improved oversight of militia bodies, extensive staff reductions prevented the procuracy from fully exercising its newly acquired powers. Party meeting minutes and party bureau session protocols serve as primary historical sources for studying the post-war Soviet Procuracy history.

Assessment methodology for communicative mobility

Troitskaya Y.V.

Abstract

The relevance of the study stems from the ongoing transformation of the contemporary communicative environment, which calls for greater flexibility, adaptability, and strategic variability in speech behavior. In this connection, the development of a scientifically grounded and practically applicable methodology for assessing communicative mobility acquires particular importance. The article presents a component-based structure of communicative mobility, within which the assessment criteria and a set of indicators are outlined. The proposed criteria and indicators were validated by experts – language specialists with experience in developing assessment tools for relevant characteristics. The study also provides examples of diagnostic tasks that enable the evaluation of the identified indicators. The proposed methodology can be applied in teaching language disciplines. The theoretical significance of the work consists in refining the definition of “communicative mobility” and providing a systematic framework of its elements, which encompass behavioral, cognitive, emotional and volitional dimensions of interaction in situations of elevated communicative complexity.

Informological approach to developing the digital competence of human resources specialists

Ezhkov D.O.

Abstract

This article examines the problem of formation of digital competence in future HR specialists. An informational approach is proposed as the methodological foundation for this process, viewing learning as a fundamental information process governed by the general principles of computer science, communication theory, and cognitive science. The paper explores the essence of the informational approach, its theoretical origins, and its potential for designing educational activities. The author demonstrates that the application of this approach enables a fundamental transformation of the educational system: shifting the focus from the acquisition of sums of knowledge to the development of the ability to effectively work with information – finding, evaluating, structuring, analyzing, and creating it. Using the example of the «HR Analytics» course, the practical implementation of the informational approach is demonstrated. The teaching methods (visualization of information structures, data flow analysis, project-based activities), as well as the structure of the content and the range of assessment tools, are described in detail, all aimed at developing the instrumental-technological and expert-analytical components of digital competence. It is concluded that the informatics approach transforms the role of the teacher into the architect of educational environment, and the educational process itself from «knowledge-filling» to «information navigation», which is key to preparing competitive HR specialists in the context of digital transformation.

Serving citizens as an axiological basis for the professional training of future managers of state and municipal administration

Mullakaeva E.N., Kurylenko L.V.

Abstract

Research into the lifestyle and value priorities of contemporary students suggests that students majoring in the bachelor’s degree program «Public and Municipal Administration» represent this social group. The analysis revealed a predominance of individualism and the desire for self-realization, as well as personal freedoms and financial independence, over collective and socially oriented values, which contradicts the notion of public service as service to citizens. A historical analysis of the phenomenon of service in Russia demonstrates its importance for future public and municipal managers, highlighting such values as patriotism, humanistic aspirations, high moral ideals, professionalism, and the priority of the spiritual over the material. However, public and municipal administration managers, as specialists, must integrate two professions: manager and civil servant, whose professional activity is aimed at serving citizens by fulfilling their official duties and solving professional problems. Therefore, future public and municipal managers must be prepared to apply management approaches proven effective in the transition to «new public management» in their professional activities and recognize patriotism and public duty as fundamental values. The transfer and assimilation of professional and socially significant value orientations for public and municipal managers will be facilitated by the application of a cultural studies approach as one of the priority methodological approaches to developing their professional culture.

Pedagogical model of foreign language training of secondary vocational students of technical profile

Danko Y.V.

Abstract

The article proposes a pedagogical model of foreign language training for students of secondary vocational education of a technical profile, aimed at achieving a didactic result in the form of a threshold level of foreign language proficiency. Considering that foreign language training of a future mid-level specialist is practice-oriented, it should be based on the formation of skills for working with professional texts. Due to the limited study time for teaching a foreign language, the most important role is given to the clear organization of the pedagogical process. Based on the analysis of scientific and methodological works, the stages of teaching a foreign language in a technical school are clarified and, based on pedagogical modeling, a model of teaching a foreign language to future mid-level specialists is proposed. The model is defined in the form of interrelated components and establishes the formation of foreign language competence in the unity of three criteria – motivational, content and cognitive-functional. The presented model will make it possible to systematize and consistently consider the stages and conditions of foreign language teaching in secondary vocational education, highlight all the components of foreign language training and adjust them if necessary.

Digitalization of Chinese language teaching in schools: between opportunities and risks

Kandi L.

Abstract

In the context of global digitalization, education is undergoing profound transformations that affect both the content and the organization of the learning process. One of the most illustrative fields of these changes is the teaching of the Chinese language, where digital technologies significantly expand the opportunities for intercultural communication and the individualization of learning. The relevance of this study is determined by the need to analyze the opportunities and risks of digitalization in the school environment, where the implementation of innovative solutions is often constrained by limited resources and insufficient teacher preparedness. The aim of the article is to identify the key directions of digitalization in teaching Chinese and to determine the factors that influence the success of this process in Russia and China. To achieve this aim, the following tasks were set: to analyze theoretical approaches to educational informatization, to examine practical models of using digital technologies, to identify risks and limitations, and to provide recommendations for optimizing the educational process. The methodological framework of the study is based on the analysis and synthesis of academic literature, a comparative examination of the pedagogical experience of Russia and China, and the consideration of specific cases reflecting the particularities of digital practices. The results of the study show that in Russia, digitalization develops mainly through individual initiatives and pilot projects, while in China it has a systemic character supported by comprehensive teacher training programs and institutional regulation. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comparative analysis of two models of digitalization and in identifying the key factors determining their effectiveness. The practical significance consists in the possibility of applying the revealed patterns to improve the teaching of Chinese in the school environment.

Professional training of English language teachers in India in the digital era

Belovetskaia L.E.

Abstract

The study analyzes the transformation of the professional training system for English language teachers in India under the influence of a large-scale educational reform. It focuses on the formation of an integrated model that combines subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and digital competencies. The purpose of the work is to reveal the mechanisms and directions of this transformation, driven by the implementation of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), national digital platforms, and an updated regulatory framework. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were solved: systematizing the regulatory framework of ITEP, identifying the functional potential of the PM eVIDYA ecosystem (SWAYAM, DIKSHA, PARAKH), and assessing the organizational and methodological consequences of implementing the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST-2021). The methodological basis comprised comparative and structural-functional analysis applied to a corpus of sources, including Russian and international scientific publications (2021–2025) and primary regulatory documents from Indian educational authorities (NCTE, NCERT). The scientific novelty lies in conducting the first systematic reconstruction of the Indian reform in Russian comparative pedagogy, with a focus on the changing role of English departments in the context of digitalization. As a result, it was found that the key outcome of the reform is the creation of a sustainable educational ecosystem characterized by: the synchronous integration of academic disciplines, prolonged school practice, and the continuous development of digital competencies; the synergy of national platforms performing differentiated didactic functions (from MOOC crediting to ensuring inclusive access); and the reorientation of training towards the challenges of working in a multilingual environment using digital tools. Systemic challenges were identified, such as the digital divide and the need to develop mechanisms for inter-university moderation of online courses. The conclusions of the article emphasize that the Indian experience represents a model of deep integration of digitalization into the architecture of teacher education, which has significant potential for comparative studies and adaptation in other national contexts.

Pedagogical technology for developing regionally oriented communicative competence of Chinese students of the preparatory department in the border region

Khanmamedova K.O.

Abstract

One of the national goals of the Russian Federation is to promote Russian education abroad, specifically increasing the number of international students at Russian universities. Strategic cooperation with the People's Republic of China in the fields of economics, culture, and education contributes to an increase in the number of Chinese students in Russia. To learn Russian and prepare for admission to Russian universities, Chinese citizens attend preparatory courses, where the key objective is to develop foreign language communicative competence. Special conditions exist in the border regions of the Russian Far East, where the number of Chinese students reaches 90 % of the total number of international students. Furthermore, China's proximity is reflected in the sociocultural environment of the border regions, as well as in intercultural communication. These circumstances highlight the need to develop not simply communicative competence, but regionally oriented communicative competence. Рreparatory departments experience difficulties in teaching Chinese citizens effective communication strategies adapted to specific cultural realities. Furthermore, a systematic understanding of pedagogical technologies for developing regionally oriented communicative competence in Chinese preparatory students in a border region is lacking. The study's results describe the development and implementation of a pedagogical technology for developing regionally oriented communicative competence in Chinese preparatory students in a border region. The results of the implementation of this pedagogical technology in the educational process at the preparatory department are analyzed.

Integration of digital technologies into the system of personality developing education: experience of higher educational institutions in Tajikistan

Babadzhanova D.S.

Abstract

Global digitalization of education presents higher educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan with the task of modernizing the educational process while preserving the principles of person-centered pedagogy. The need for harmonious combination of innovative digital technologies with traditional humanistic educational values determines the relevance of this research. to analyze existing practices of integrating digital technologies into the personality developing education system in Tajik universities and identify features of their application for individualizing the educational process. A complex of complementary methods was employed: theoretical analysis of scientific literature on education digitalization and personality-oriented pedagogy; pedagogical observation of the educational process over two semesters; surveys of faculty (n = 187) and students (n = 247) from three leading universities in Tajikistan; semi-structured interviews with educational program directors and information technology specialists. Three main models of digital technology integration were identified: supplementation model (63 %), partial transformation model (28 %), and systemic integration model (9 %). It was established that adaptive learning systems, electronic educational resources, and collaborative platforms possess significant potential for individualizing the educational process. Key factors for successful integration were determined: faculty digital competence, institutional support, quality of technical infrastructure, methodological support. Integration of digital technologies into personality-developing education in Tajik universities is at an initial stage of development. Successful realization of digitalization potential requires a systemic approach including professional development of faculty, improvement of technical infrastructure, and creation of national educational platforms adapted to the country's cultural and linguistic context. A promising direction is the development of integration models that account for the specifics of various disciplines and students' educational needs.

Potential of an investigation model in expression of feature intensity

Ilyukhina N.A.

Abstract

The article considers an indirect model of transmission of power semantics through an indication of the consequence. The model demonstrates the ability to express not only the value of a degree, but also a subjective assessment of a trait. The purpose of the article is to examine the mechanism of transmission of a subjective attitude and the creation of an expressive effect when using this model. The material for the analysis was primarily the resources of the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The research uses the methods of component, contextual and transformational analysis. It is revealed that the investigative model is functionally related to the expression of intensity, has a rich potential for expressing a subjective assessment of the manifestation of a feature in the form of an indication of the consequence – expanded in a complex sentence and collapsed in a simple sentence. An effect is understood as the result of the development of a trait or its perception to an unusual degree of manifestation – an emotional reaction to it or an assessment that arises during the observer’s reflection. The wide possibilities of the model in expressing intensity are provided by using different perspectives of perception, comprehension and evaluation of the feature by the observer, often hyperbolized. Hyperbolization serves to create an expressive effect by pointing to another stage of the development of the trait (loves to madness / madly) and expressing the author’s assessment of the manifestation of the trait as impossible or inappropriate (indescribably delicious, criminally long). The results of the research can be applied in practice in the process of teaching modern Russian language and stylistics courses.

On Certain Specific Features of Netspeak as an Object of Linguistic Investigation

Anissimova A.G., Baranova L.L.

Abstract

The aim of the present article is to give an overview of some of the recent developments in the language of the internet: namely, terms and various types of neologisms, which have appeared over the past decades, offering a classification of these new formations, supplemented by the analysis of their dictionary definitions. At the same time an attempt is made at systematizing certain specific features of Netspeak as a complex linguistic and social phenomenon. The study is based on the material gleaned from online editions of quality British press, with the examples selected using the method of continuous sampling. Research results indicate that quite a number of neologisms are blends; however, abbreviations and compounds are also encountered. The majority of new coinages are stylistically informal and reflect a hybrid nature of Netspeak, which in quite a number of cases shows the merging of spoken and written English. Besides, certain peculiarities of spelling and punctuation are discussed. These aspects of English reveal their dual nature on the Web, as, on the one hand, internet users tend to simplify orthographic rules and the way stops have been traditionally used in English, while on the other hand, spelling and punctuation are used creatively in order to show various emotions in an attempt to simulate the spoken form of the language. The analyzed material shows that the emergence of the World Wide Web has boosted the capacity of English for expanding its linguistic apparatus, and the changes brought about by the continuous evolution of the electronic medium of communication should be thoroughly studied and understood.

Sacral and transcendental in German football discourse

Belyutin R.V.

Abstract

More and more scientists-representatives, as well as representatives of social and religious institutions point out the similarity of sport and religion. Sport is said to be pseudo religion, quasi-religion, new (Soviet, civil) religion. The reason for such a conclusion is a number of features uniting religious cults and processes representing the conceptual sphere of sport. Through the example of facts of the German ethnolinguistic culture (quotations of well-known philosophers, sociologists, culturologists, the response of the society to some sports events where German football teams participate, fans’ behavioral pattern including verbal behavior, representing sports facts in media discourse in terms of religion), the article substantiates the rightfulness of the statement that football in Germany is in fact a kind of religion, it assumes some of its crucial functions. Football is considered to be extremely popular not without a reason: it has remained most prominent in Germany by a huge margin since the national team of the FRG won the World Cup in 1954. The results of the research help to understand better the peculiarities of contemporary religious commitment, the so-called «religion-like phenomena». The paper outlines further perspectives in the research range of problems including the opposite projection, which might let determine the level of sports commitment in the religious discourse, and intercultural communication, which could involve the comparison of data about the German and Russian linguistic view of the world.

Unofficial naming of mixed-breed dogs based on metareflexive material

Ivanyan E.P.

Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the sharply increasing importance of internet communication; by the need for researchers to focus on various spheres of Russian discourse, including cynological jargon; by the growing role of dogs in human life, which attracts heightened attention from scholars across different disciplines to cynological issues; and by the pressing problem of stray and mixed-breed dogs, and consequently, the problem of their verbal representation in cynological discourse. The research problem lies in the discrepancy between the extensive presence of cynological jargon in everyday speech and its insufficient coverage in linguistic literature, particularly regarding the peculiarities of unofficial naming practices used by owners to refer to mixed-breed dogs ‒ a form of response to the social stigmatization of non-pedigree status. The primary research method is descriptive, employing observation, comparison, and interpretation of linguistic data. The research material consists of metareflexives ‒ self-reflective remarks by speakers ‒ found in comments on posts from the Yandex platform. The study characterizes the unofficial nominations of mixed-breed dogs based on the fixation of naming and the conditions of meaning actualization in discourse (usual, individual, and contextual types). Both denotatively neutral and emotive-evaluative nominations are described in terms of their quantitative distribution. Individual nominations are analyzed both as a process and as a result. Within naming as a process, strategies of concealing or revealing the fact of a dog’s mixed-breed status are identified, along with communicative situations where each strategy is employed. For the strategy of explicit acknowledgment, the study reveals the use of melioration (the leading device in cynological jargon overall) and asteism. Within naming as a result, the mechanisms of forming unofficial breed names (imitations) are described, including metaphorical transfer, borrowing of foreign words, as well as morphological and compositional methods. The analyzed metareflexives indicate that dogs occupy a significant place in the psychological space of their owners. The study concludes that further research should focus not on the unofficial nominations of dog breeds but on the unofficial naming practices of the dogs themselves in Russian cynological jargon, as used by owners in digital communication.

The Deixis of Contemporary British Short Prose: Ariadne’s Thread in the Labyrinth of Text

Mikhailovskaia E.V., Shcherbinina Y.I.

Abstract

The article examines narrative deixis in contemporary British short prose, a genre characterized by compactness, the absence of linear plot development, a focus on the inner world of the character, and symbolism. The relevance of the study stems from the insufficient exploration of the linguostylistic and linguopoetic features of the short story genre, particularly in terms of its deictic characteristics. The research demonstrates that the format of short fiction requires an enhanced role of deictic projections in shaping the structure and content of the short story, as well as an expansion of the range of linguistic and compositional means performing deictic functions. The material for the study includes short stories by British writers of the 20th and 21st centuries (G. Greene, G. Swift, R. Butlin, J. Harris), which reflect the typological features of contemporary British short fiction. The study employs the descriptive method, the general scientific analytical-synthetic method, methods of linguostylistic and linguopoetic analysis, and contextual analysis. The results of the study suggest that in contemporary British short fiction deixis serves as a key navigational tool that enables readers to orient themselves within the multidimensional space of the text. The analysis has identified a number of deictic strategies, the most significant of which include: 1) close correlation between different types of deixis; 2) orientation of deictic projections towards the character’s inner world and the imagery of the text as a whole; 3) emergence of a split or multiple deictic center; the deictic projection of «reader as subject»; 4) realization of the deictic opposition «near vs. far» as a multi-layered semantic marker; 5) amplification of the deictic potential of the frame structure (the title, beginning, and ending of the story).

Lexical-semantic relations and textual formats as informational resources of communicative impact

Morozova M.E., Zhuravleva T.P.

Abstract

This article examines the necessity and feasibility of incorporating information that exerts a specific communicative impact on both its consumers and its producers into the national-cultural semiotic (linguistic) space. Semiotic resources (in this case, a system of units of language and speech: single word – lexeme, phrase – lexical unit, text of a given type – textotype) are used to produce information, adequately convey it, and perceive it. These resources are capable of modifying their form, structure, and other system-forming elements depending on the current communicative need. The heuristic actualization of this phenomenon was influenced by the pragmatic approach developed by the philosophers of language G. Austin and J. Searle. The purpose of this article is to summarize the results of multi-level studies (lexical, lexical-semantic, and textual) and to demonstrate how standardization systems function in language, facilitating the technological formalization of information. The obtained results demonstrate methods for presenting relevant information: in the process of informatization of modern society, relevant, pragmatically loaded semes organize the understanding and perception of members of a linguistic community. The actualization of semes also manifests itself as a way to improve the interaction of participants in various social relationships. As a result, the resources under consideration are perceived as informants about the standards and synchronic states of social systems for the semantic reorganization of semiotic (linguistic) material with cultural significance. Methodologically, the emphasis is on the interaction of semantics and linguistic pragmatics to create new cultural meanings.

Origin of Slavic-Russian written language in the works of professor E.M. Vereshchagin

Karpenko L.B.

Abstract

The article highlights the scientific contribution of the prominent Soviet and Russian linguist E.M. Vereshchagin to the study of the initial stage of Slavic-Russian written language. The subject of the research is E.M. Vereshchagin's scientific activity aimed at developing Soviet Paleoslavistics and researching the Cyril and Methodius heritage. The article's goal is to demonstrate, within the context of the history of domestic Paleoslavistics and the trends that defined it, the significance of Professor E.M. Vereshchagin's works for understanding the history of the origin of writing and the bookish-written language in Ancient Rus', and the role of the Cyril and Methodius tradition in the history of the Old Russian literary language. The scholar's aspiration to show in his works that the most important source of the Russian literary language throughout its history, including the modern period, is not only vernacular speech but also the Old Russian literary language, which traces back to the activities of Saints Cyril and Methodius and their disciples, is emphasized. The research employs systemic and historical-cultural approaches, as well as comparative and historiographical methods. The author traces the state of Russian Paleoslavistics in the XIX century, and the mid and second half of the XX century, periods that witnessed the revival of domestic Cyril and Methodius studies with the active participation of E.M. Vereshchagin. The review presents the scholar's role in the development of several scientific fields: the theory of bilingualism, linguocultural studies, linguistic country studies, source studies, Cyril and Methodius studies, and others.

Particularities of using an economic approach to language research

Vitlinskaya T.D.

Abstract

This work presents an attempt to analyze the problems of a relatively new field of interdisciplinary language research with a wide range of scientific topics under consideration, i.e. the economics of language. This field of research can be defined as encompassing two main areas: the study of the relationship between language use and economic activity, including the use of language in the workplace and in commerce, as well as its role in economic growth; and the study of the social aspects of language using the economic method, used mainly in the field of sociology, political science and economics, in the study of topics such as balance in the language market, linguistic discrimination, dominant languages and their features. The work uses both general scientific methods, including induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, abstraction, generalization, analogy, description, and specific scientific methods determined by the particularities of the research subject and including methods of logical and statistical analysis. The article analyzes the main methods and theories of using an economic approach to language research, as well as presents the main research directions in this field. The analysis allowed us to conclude that the modern approach to the economics of language focuses on three main types of issues: the impact of economic variables on the dynamic development of languages; the impact of language on economic variables such as income; the interaction between linguistic and economic variables such as the economic approach to language policy and language planning. Further research in the field of using an economic approach to the study of language will make it possible to improve economic models of language development, apply economic research methods to issues of analysis and improvement of language policy, and study the issues of mutual influence of language and various aspects of economic activity.

Genre-based and pragmatic interpretation of texts of medication instruction

Vasilyevа O.Y.

Abstract

The relevance of the study lies in expanding our understanding of the functional-pragmatic and linguistic characteristics of medical instructions for the use of medications and the need to classify them as a specific discursive practice. The subject of the study is the pragmastylistic essence of the genre under consideration. Based on the methodology of speech genre modeling by T.V. Shmelyova, the main communicatively significant parameters of medical instructions texts are characterized, taking into account their linguopragmatic specificity, which defines the purpose of this study. It has been established that when the patient is indicated as the primary recipient in the package insert, the patient's level of awareness and ability to adequately receive information is low, and professional training is necessary to interpret information about the composition and pharmacological properties of the medication, its effects, methods of use, potential side effects, etc. Therefore, based on the results of the study, the author concludes that the text of the medication package insert is primarily intended for specialized recipients. This vector of addressability allows us to point out the pragmatic passivity of the addressee-consumer (patient) in the context of the indispensable professional communicative activity of doctors and pharmacists. The linguistic features (modalities of possibility/obligation, the presence of impulsive/prohibitive constructions) confirm the high degree of normativity and impersonality of the communicative organization of these texts. The study concludes with the author's definition of drug instructions as a specific speech genre. The proposed interpretation of a specific genre contributes to the study of the theory of speech genres and can contribute to the further development of genres in medical and pharmaceutical discourse.

Cross-national Internet discourse in the modern linguistic paradigm: terminological status, semantics, and the problem of legitimization

Bryukhacheva Y.A.

Abstract

This article examines a distinct discursive practice encompassing a set of communicative practices that emerge and circulate at the intersection of different national contexts in the digital environment, terminologically defined as «cross-national internet discourse». The aim of the work is to justify the validity of distinguishing this type of discourse and to identify its features based on the general taxonomy of discourse in domestic and foreign literature. The research materials include works by Russian, Chinese, and European linguists dedicated to studying the concept and classification of internet discourse in general and its cross-national variety in particular. Descriptive and comparative methods, as well as observation and theoretical analysis, were employed. It is established that within the scientific community, internet discourse is most often viewed as a new form of communication, classified by genre, topic, message format, and communication channel, with texts containing a cross-national context typically categorized as political internet discourse. The necessity of distinguishing cross-national internet discourse as a variety of modern discourse is justified on the grounds that this type of discourse actively constructs transnational public spheres, influences international relations, shapes collective identities, and redefines the boundaries of cultural influence. The specific features distinguishing this type of discourse from others are systematized. The categorical parameters include: a) a specific nature of communication participants; b) a special chronotope; c) a unique goal; d) a specific set of strategies; e) a distinct thematic focus; f) genre variability; g) linguistic features. The obtained data contribute to expanding the understanding of internet discourse, particularly its cross-national variety, and create a foundation for further study of its characteristics, including from the perspective of the linguistic devices employed within it.

Process of Foreign Language Learning as a Conceptual Metaphor: Insights from a Linguo-Cognitive Experiment

Leonov T.V.

Abstract

This research is devoted to analyzing the functioning of the conceptual metaphor «LANGUAGE LEARNING IS A JOURNEY» in contemporary English-language linguodidactic discourse. The study's objective was to identify the suggestive potential of this metaphor for transforming cognitive representations, emotional patterns, and social roles in the educational process. A longitudinal experiment involving students of HSE University (experimental group, *n* = 12; control group, *n* = 11) revealed its influence on cognitive and emotional aspects of learning. In the experimental group, the metaphor was systematically integrated into the educational process, and the following results were observed: cognitive reorientation with emphasis on process dynamics; deconstruction of the educational hierarchy: replacement of the «teacher-wizard and student-neophyte» model with «guide – fellow travelers», where the student became an active cartographer independently determining their learning trajectory; as well as emotional regulation through reframing difficulties: errors were reinterpreted as «points of interest», not threats – while stress-inducing metaphors endured in the control group. Thus, the journey metaphor confirmed its status not only as a verbalization tool, but as a mechanism of cognitive-motivational restructuring that humanizes the educational space through rethinking the language learning experience.

L.M. Artamonova L.M.

Abstract

This is a review on a scholarly publication of the diary by one of the most prominent statesmen of the Russian Empire M.M. Speransky. This diary has been written in the 1820-ies. The review notes the depth and the thoroughness of the approach of the editors in preparing this publication. The diary entries were meticulously verified and supplemented with the detailed commentary, the name indexes, and the geographical indices. The publication is preceded by a lengthy introduction by T.V. Andreeva, an expert on the biography of Speransky and his written legacy. Thanks to this publication, the reformer’s personal account of his life and his work has become accessible to a wide audience, including both those who professionally research the past and those who are simply interested in the country’s history. Thus, the publishers have provided an opportunity to appreciate the contribution of Speransky to the history of imperial Russia in general, and to one of the most eventful decades of the XIX century in particular. This publication helps to rise our knowledge about it at a new higher level. The publication of this diary, written in the 1820-ies, should be recognized as one of the most successful historical sources publications in our times. This edition undoubtedly will be particularly useful for the specialists in the various fields of humanities who study the deeds and writings of this renowned administrator, jurist, and political thinker in the XIX century, as well as for the teachers of these disciplines and their students.
