Design Gradient on the Interfacial Heaving of Clay Soils of Seepage-Control Structures of Dams

Resumo

The interface between the core and the filter of a dam looks like a “fir tree”—core teeth sinking into the filter and shoulder of the dam. The exit gradient in the cases of straight core face (as per the SNiP) and toothed core face is considered, the gradient being higher in the latter case.
