Abstract

Liquid-phase iron reduction processes are analyzed. A new process free from the disadvantages of the other ones is proposed. Its advantage in processing industrial wastes using a bath of hot steelmaking slag (first alternative) and blast-furnace slag (second alternative) is demonstrated. The final product is a solid ferrous semiproduct in the former case and liquid iron in the latter case. The fundamental principles of the process were tested at a laboratory.
